Kanpur cold storage collapse: 6 dead and several injured

Kanpur, Mar 15 (IBNS): at least six people were killed and several others injured after a cold storage collapsed at Shivrajpur area of Kanpur due to gas leakage, media reports said.

Around more than two dozen workers were present inside the storage and were having lunch when the storage collapsed due to the leakage of a gas which suffocated them.

"Five people were taken to a speciality hospital in the Kanpur town have died. One person has been declared dead at the spot. We are trying to get those trapped out as soon as possible," a senior officer Anand Kumar told media.

The structure of the Katiyar cold storage collapsed after the gas leaked in the afternoon, Kumar added.

The local people informed several media that the owner of the cold storage may not have license which would be investigated by the police.

According to the local officials, the gas which leaked was Ammonia.
