After several rounds of meeting with the party leaders and observers, the saffron party has declared its candidate list for 26 constituencies under the autonomous council.
The saffron party has fielded few new faces including two women candidates in the forthcoming polls.
According to the reports, BJP has fielded present Chief Executive Member of the council Tuliram Ronghang in Bithung Regngthama constituency, while senior party leader and former MLA Jagat Sing Engti fielded in Sarupathar.
The saffron party also fielded senior party leader Raton Engti in Duar Bagori, Mangal Singh Timung in Hamren, Longki Timung in Borjan, Pradip Diphusa in Dhansiri, Prabhat Chandra Taro in Duaramla.
Other candidates are Dhaniram Maslai (Amri constituency), Pradeep Rongpi (Chinthong), Rupsing Teron (Socheng), Haren Singh Bey (Rongkhang), Pawan Kumar (Kapili), Rina Terangpi (Amreng), Khorsing Rongpi (Howraghat), Ramsing Timung (Langfer), Darsing Ronghang (Phuloni), Thorendra Brahma (Langhin), Raju Tisso (Karkanthi), Lungsing Teron (Mahamaya), Ritesh Enghi (Namati), Kache Rongpi (Socheng Dhenta), Ratan Teron (Lumbajong), Amar Singh Tisso (Singhason), Madhurjya Dhekial Phukan (Bokajan), Mukut Mahanta (Deopani) and Pabitra Rongpi (Nilip).
BJP had not offered party ticket to the maximum Executive Members of the present council, who were joined the saffron party from Congress last year.
While choosing maximum new faces as the party candidate, BJP’s Assam unit president Ranjit Kumar Das said that, the candidate selection procedure was done on the basis of ground reports and party observers report.
Meanwhile, a top party source said that, eying the next panchayat polls and general election BJP has decided to field clean image faces in the council poll.
“In past times, many corruption charges were raised against maximum EMs who served maximum time in the council,” the source said.
The last day of filing nomination paper is scheduled on May 19.
