Srinagar, July 3 (IBNS): Security has been beefed up in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on Friday.

The state police, paramilitary forces and army have intensified security and searches across the state.

Modi will inaugurate 25 kilometer long railway line from Katra town to Udhampur and will also inaugurate the 240 megawatt hydro-electric power project in the border town of Uri in north Kashmir.

The police and the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have erected barricades across the Srinagar city and are maintaining a close vigil on the movement of suspected persons.

In north Kashmir, huge contingents of police, paramilitary CRPF and army were deployed.

According to sources, the forces are maintaining extra-vigil on Srinagar-Baramulla-Muzaffarabad highway.

Pro-separatist leaders have called for a complete shutdown on modi's visit to the Kashmir valley.
