J&K heads for Governor's rule as Omar steps down as caretaker CM

New Delhi, Jan 9 (IBNS): After caretaker Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Governor NN Vohra asking to relieve him of the duties, the Jammu and Kashmir is now heading for Governor’s rule.

Sources said the Governor was sending a sending a report to the Centre on the political impasse in the valley especially after Omar Abdullah steps down from the caretaker post.

Sources said that the report to the President is understood to be containing two or three suggestions.

The option are like a spell of Governor’s rule as no party is in a position to cobble up numbers required to form a government after the highly-fractured verdict in the recently-concluded Assembly elections.

The new government is required to be formed before January 19 when the term of the current Assembly expires failing which Governor’s rule looks inevitable.

Omar’s decision may have also hastened the Governor’s decision to send a report.
