Jitendra Singh launches E-book on Good Governance Simplified
New Delhi, Dec 27 (IBNS): Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said that the government will soon roll out a scheme where students will be able to interact with bureaucrats.
He said such a forum will serve a useful purpose as the officials will be able to familiarize themselves with the expectations of the young people.
Singh was addressing a press conference here on Saturday after the launching the Ministry’s E-book on Good Governance Simplified.
Jitendra Singh said that the government is also initiating another programme for the training of officials at junior level during their induction. He said a pilot project will be launched in the three states of Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu from Jan 1, 2015.
Outlining the achievements of the Ministry, Singh said the self attestation of documents is a major reform initiative of the Government.
He said this has greatly benefitted the common man as the process has been institutionalized and the practice is picking momentum with more and more departments and state governments falling in line.
Singh said the government has also initiated steps to improve the efficiency of the employees.
As part of the measures, he said exemption has been made for employees having differently abled children from transfers. The DoPT has also streamlined handing over and taking over charge by the officers and the relieved officer being asked to submit a note of his experience that will serve as an input for the new incumbent.
The government has also revised the format for the declaration of movable assets to be submitted by employees under the Lokpal Act, he added.
The Minister said that there has been a considerable reduction in the pending grievances of employees with a result that only 25% backlog remains since the Government assumed office over six months ago.
Singh said Pre-Retiring Counseling workshops for retiring employees are being conducted and now these have been introduced at state level also.
He said two such workshops have been conducted in the North Eastern Region, one in Shillong and another in Agartala.
He also enumerated the concessions given by the Government to the pensioners and other welfare measures initiated for them.
