Jihadis among Muslims trying to take the community on the path of violence: VHP on Prophet row fury

New Delhi/UNI: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday warned the "Jihadi Muslims" for leading the community to the path of violence.

Issuing a strong-worded statement on incidents of violence reported from different parts of the country after Friday prayers, VHP's Central Working President Alok Kumar condemned the sporadic events and stated that the "Jihadis amongst the Muslims are trying to take the community to the path of violence".

He also said the country functions under the Constitution of India and not by Sharia criminal law.

"It is neither in the interest of the community nor of the country. The elements who are trying to vitiate the peaceful and inclusive ethos of the country must understand that India functions under its Constitution and not by Sharia criminal law. People who are being used must understand that they cannot be the judges in the matter, nor the executors of the persons they are agitating against," Kumar added.

The senior advocate further said that attacks on the public, security forces, and the destruction of public properties cannot justify any demonstration.

He urged the law-enforcing agencies to show no leniency to the perpetrators, while also appealing to the authorities of religious places to take responsibility for the crowd gathering on premises for any procession.

"In the name of demonstration, attacks are carried out on innocent people, security forces, temples, and public properties. This is a challenge to the rule of law. The law-enforcing agencies are taking action against this vandalism, but no leniency can be shown against the rioters. The religious places from which such crowds emerge must also take the responsibility for the acts of their followers," Sharma said.

"The compensation for the damage to the property must be recovered from the rioters and the process for this must be swift and effective," he added.
The VHP Working President also gave two cents to the Muslim community.

"The Muslim community must eschew the path of violence and await the decision of the Court. It must also be considered that such continued incidents may give rise to reaction from other communities, which will be in nobody's interest," he said.
