Jharkhand: Six people dead as clinic catches fire in Dhanbad

Dhanbad: Six people including a doctor couple lost their lives as a fire broke out at a clinic located in Hazra area of the city.

The couple Dr Vikas Hazra and his wife Prema Hazra were among the dead in the fire incident.

The clinic is located on Telephone Exchange Road of Hazra.

Upon receiving information five fire engines reached on the spot and doused the flames.

Officials of the fire Brigade said that the incident took place around 2 AM.

Police said that when the fire took place the doctor couple and others were sleeping in their rooms.

Due to the fire smoke got filled in the rooms and the people died due to suffocation.

At the time of the incident there were 25 patients inside the clinic who were shifted to another building by the staff of the clinic and their lives was saved.

Among the dead is also the nephew of Dr Hazra. He had come to Dhanbad two days ago from Kolkata.
