Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces apprehend Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist from Pulwama

Srinagar: Security forces on Thursday arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said.

They said on a tip off troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at village Androosa Khrew in Pulwama.

During the searches security forces noticed some suspicious movement in the nearby orchard. One person was seen trying to fled from the area, they said.

However, alert security forces chased and overpowered him, they said adding later some arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession.

During the questioning he identified himself as Shahid Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Mandakpal Khrew, an active militant of HM.

This was the first arrest of a militant during CASO after GOC 15 Corps recently announced even during the encounters militants will be allowed to surrender.
