Jammu and Kashmir: Police busts key cross LoC drug racket

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two persons including a woman who were involved in smuggling narcotics in Kupwara district.

The woman is suspected to be involved in smuggling drugs across the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan, the police said.

They said both were arrested under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act and heroin-like substance was recovered from them.

The woman smuggler was identified as Razia Begum alias Bulbul. Her accomplice is Aftab Ahmad Shah. Both are residents of Takiya Bahadurkote. They were on way Karnah to sell the drugs.

The husband of the woman smuggler and her two brothers are already in jail for involvement in narcotics smuggling.
