Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistani terrorist among four killed in encounters

Srinagar: Four millitants, including a suspected Pakistani belonging to the Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) terror outfit, were killed in the ongoing twin anti terror operations in Kashmir valley on Sunday.

Police said two that two terrorists, including a Pakistani have been killed in frontier north Kashmir district of Kupwara.

The gun fight erupted in Kupwara when a joint team of police and Army’s 28 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched an anti militancy operation on the disclosure of an arrested militant identified as Showket Ahmad Sheikh in Lolab area of the district, police said.

As the security forces started searches of the hideout, the militants hiding there fired upon the search parties which retaliated in which one Pakistani militant of LeT got killed, Police said.

They said the arrested militant also got trapped and an encounter was ongoing.

“Killed terrorist has been identified as a Pakistani, linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT.” Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said in a tweet.

One more militant was killed during the ongoing gun fight, they said.

The second gun fight of the day raged in Damhal Hanjipora Pora of Kulgam district in south Kashmir when a joint team of security forces launched an anti-militancy operation on a tip off. Two militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter.

The slain militants have been identified as Haris Sharief of Srinagar, a LeT C-category and Zakir Padder of Kulgam of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) also C-Category), police said and added that an operation is in progress.

“So far, 02 killed, terrorists identified as Haris Sharief of Srinagar (LeT C category) & Zakir Padder of Kulgam (JeM C cat). Operation in progress”, IGP Kashmir said in a tweet.
