Srinagar: A pilot was killed and another was injured after an Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez Sector in Kashmir on Friday, defence officials said.

The helicopter was on its way to pick up an ailing Border Security Force trooper when it crashed in Baraum Gurez in Bandipora district at around noon.

“One pilot has been killed and another is injured,” one official told UNI.

The injured pilot was shifted to a medical facility.

The cause of the crash was not known immediately.

At least five Cheetah helicopters have crashed in the last five years in the country.
