Jammu and Kashmir: Hizb militant nabbed with arms in Awantipora

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have nabbed a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant with arms and ammunition in Awantipora.

Police said based on a specific input a joint team of Police along with Army 42 RR and CRPF 130 Bn established a checking post at Chandrigam and apprehended a person who was moving in suspicious circumstances.

During the search one Pistol along with a magazine was recovered from him. He has been identified as Danish Mohidin Ganie ,a resident of Dadsara Awantipora in Pulwama district.

On preliminary questioning the accused admitted that he is affiliated with proscribed militant outfit HM and active since September 2022, police added.

A case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora, Further investigation/ questioning is going on, police said.
