Jammu and Kashmir: Drone spotted again near Military Station in Ratnuchak, Kunjwani areas

Jammu/UNI: Army troops have spotted another drone near Military Station in Ratnuchak-Kunjwani areas here in the city outskirts.

Earlier, Army on Monday had successfully thwarted the drone activity near Ratnuchak-Kaluchak Military Station along the Jammu-Pathankot national highway.

Security agency sources on Tuesday said that drone was spotted during the intervening night of June 28-29.

"The flying object was seen thrice in Ratnuchak and Kunjwani areas near the Army brigade," they added.

Sources, however, asserted that firstly the drone was spotted at around 0108 hours at Ratnuchak, then at around 0309 hrs near Kunjwani and third time again near same location at around 0419 hours.

The troops exercised restraint and drones reportedly flew back. Subsequently, the area has been cordoned off, sources added.

On Monday midnight of June 27-28 also two separate drone activities were spotted over Ratnuchak- Kaluchak Military area by the alert troops.

"Immediately, high alert was sounded and Quick Reaction Teams engaged them with firing," said the Army officer.

He asserted that both the drones flew away and a major threat thwarted by the alertness and proactive approach of the troops.

The security forces were on high alert and carried the search operation in the area.

On Sunday morning, two blasts occurred at Jammu Air Force Station in which the explosive was believed to be airdropped from the drones, leaving two IAF personnel injured and portion of the building damaged in the high security zone.

The teams of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Special Forces, Police, Senior IAF officers, reached the spot soon after the attack.
