Jammu and Kashmir: Active LeT militant arrested in Budgam

Srinagar/UNI: An active militant of Laskhar-e-Toiba (Let) was arrested in central Kashmir's Budgam district on Saturday, police said.

The arrested militant has been identified as Abul Hameed Nath, a resident of Pethzanigam Beerwah, Budgam.

Police said Nath was arrested following a specific input about his movement.

"On a specific input regarding movement of terrorists in Poshkar area of Budgam, Police along with 62RR/2RR & 79Bn CRPF, launched a joint cordon and search operation in the area. During the search operation, the joint team arrested an active terrorist linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT," a police spokesman said.

"Incriminating materials, including a pistol and a magazine, five pistol rounds and one Chinese grenade have been recovered from his possession," he added.

As per police records, he was active since February 2021.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered against him and investigation also initiated.
