Jammu and Kashmir: 7 feared trapped following collapse of under construction tunnel in Ramban

Jammu: Two persons suffered injuries when an under construction tunnel collapsed near Banihal in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

"The under construction tunnel from Khooni Nalla-Ramsoo-Panthial collapsed late this evening," police said.

They said that two persons received critical injuries and were immediately evacuated. Injured have been rushed to the district hospital, Ramban.

"Some people are feared trapped inside the tunnel and rescue operation is on," they said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Masrat ul Islam said, "a part of an under-construction tunnel collapsed at Khooni Nala, Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Makerkote area of Ramban."

"Six to 7 feared trapped; one person rescued. Rescue operation is underway," said the Deputy Commissioner.
