New Delhi/IBNS: The family of an Indian student, who is in coma after suffering an accident at California in the United States, has sought an urgent visa, media reports said.

Nilam Shinde, 35, suffered an accident in California on February 14.

She suffered injuries on her chest and head after a four-wheeler hit her.

Flagging the issue, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule requested External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to help Shinde's family with the visa.

Supriya wrote on X, "Student Neelam Shinde has met with an accident in the USA and is hospitalized in a local hospital. Her father, Tanaji Shinde, from Satara, Maharashtra, India, urgently needs to visit his daughter due to a medical emergency. Tanaji Shinde has applied for an urgent visa to the USA and requires assistance."

Shinde's family said she suffered fractures in hands and legs.

Shinde's father, who is in Maharashtra's Satara, said he was trying to book slots for visas but was only getting slots for the next year.
