Indian Army Chief on Bangladesh visit
Dhaka/UNI: The army chiefs of Bangladesh and India, General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed and General Manoj Pandey, met on Monday during the latter's first visit abroad after taking charge.
Gen Pandey said his respect for Bangladesh and the basis for the existing "historical and professional relationship" between the two armies were revealed by his visit.
Before reaching the army headquarters, Gen Pandey paid tribute to the martyrs of Bangladesh's liberation war by placing wreaths at Shikha Anirban.
On Tuesday, Gen Pandey will pay a courtesy call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Indian delegation will return home on July 21. Gen Pandey arrived in Bangladesh on July 17.
