India and Japan sign key MoUs in the presence of PMs of both countries

Gandhinagar, Sep 14 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe visited the Dandi Kutir, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, prior to the 12th India-Japan Annual Summit, on Thursday.

PM Modi and his Japanese counterpart went round the complex and observed the various exhibits, media reported.

The summit held at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar is the fourth Annual Summit between the two prime ministers.

Together, the PMs reviewed entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.

Following discussion for expanding the horizons of bilateral relationship  between India and Japan, the two leaders witnessed the exchange of memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)/Agreements between the two countries.

Some of the key documents signed covered Agreement for International Joint Exchange Programme in Science and Technology, Joint Research Contract between Japan's AIST and India's DBT, MoU between DBT and National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology, and MoU regarding Promotion of Cooperation in Research related Activities.

In all 15 MoUs/Agreements were signed, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe laid the foundation stone for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High speed Rail Project, at a function, in Ahmedabad.

The Governor of Gujarat, O.P. Kohli, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis were also present.
