Inadequate COVID testing leads to community spread, alleges Kerala opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala

| @indiablooms | Jul 20, 2020, at 01:52 am

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI:  Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday alleged that inadequate COVID testing led the State to the serious stage of community spread.

On the surge of COVID patients in the state, Chennithala said that reports that community spread has already happened are shocking and the State Government should take remedial measures immediately. The number of tests needs to be increased and facilities for the treatment of patients need to be ramped up.”

“State didn’t test enough so that it won’t dent its PR-built image. The government did nothing despite Opposition raising demand for an increase in primary care facilities, quarantine centre, rapid response team and proper training of volunteers."

"Data manipulation by the government is another area of concern. The government should introspect its COVID 19 strategies as it was using public health hazard as a public relations exercise," he added.
