IAF's MiG-27 fighter jet crashes in Rajasthan, pilot safe

New Delhi, Mar 31 (IBNS): An Indian Air Force MiG-27 aircraft crashed in Uttarlai area of Rajasthan on Sunday, officials said.

The pilot, however, ejected out safely from the aircraft.

"An Indian Air Force MiG-27aircraft got airborne from Air Force Station Uttarlai, Rajasthan at 1127 hrs today for a routine sortie. The aircraft crashed at 1145 hrs, approximately 120 km south of Jodhpur," the Indian Air Force said in a statement.

"The pilot ejected safely and has been recovered by Search and Rescue helicopter," it said.

The pilot is safe and preliminary investigations have revealed no damage to any person or property on ground.

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.
