I bow before Bengal: PM Modi’s powerful gesture at Suvendu Adhikari’s oath goes viral

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday bowed before the people of West Bengal while attending Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s swearing-in ceremony, marking one of the most striking moments of the grand political event in Kolkata.

The historic Brigade Parade Ground, draped in saffron hues, witnessed Modi sharing the stage with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, several Union ministers and chief ministers of NDA-ruled states as Adhikari took oath as the BJP’s first Chief Minister in West Bengal — a state that had remained a challenging frontier for the saffron party for decades.

Sharing a glimpse of the moment on his X handle, Modi wrote: “I bow before the power of the people of West Bengal.”

He added that the blessings of the people are the true strength of democracy and the greatest source of collective resolve.

History created as Suvendu Adhikari takes oath as Bengal CM

The Brigade Parade Ground in the heart of Kolkata witnessed yet another landmark transition in West Bengal’s political history as Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as Chief Minister at a grand ceremony attended by Prime Minister Modi and top NDA leaders.

With his swearing-in, Adhikari — hailed as the “giant killer” for defeating former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in two successive high-voltage electoral battles — became the first BJP leader to assume the Chief Minister’s office in West Bengal.

West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi administered the oath of office amid thunderous cheers from a massive gathering of supporters.

The moment marked the BJP’s historic rise in a state long dominated by the All India Trinamool Congress, which governed West Bengal for 15 years after ending the 34-year Left Front rule in 2011.

The swearing-in ceremony symbolised not merely a change of government, but the beginning of a new political chapter in Bengal’s evolving power landscape.
