Hyderabad: A 34-year-old woman doctor employed at a reputed hospital in Hyderabad and a delivery agent were detained after police seized 53 grams of cocaine from them on May 8, media reports said.

The Rayadurgam police acted on a tip-off and caught the two near a city restaurant while the delivery agent was handing over the cocaine to the doctor inside her vehicle.

According to the investigation, the narcotics were sent to Hyderabad by Dhakkar through his associate Balakrishna, also known as Ram Pyar Ram, 38, who acted as the courier.

Police recovered the cocaine, Rs 10,000 in cash, and two mobile phones from the duo. The transaction was intercepted just in time during the handover.

Investigators revealed that Namrata was reportedly addicted to narcotics and had allegedly spent nearly Rs 70 lakh on drugs.
