#HinduPhobicSwiggy trends on Twitter: Swiggy faces flak online over its Holi advertisement

| @indiablooms | Mar 07, 2023, at 07:37 pm

Online food order and delivery platform Swiggy faced massive flak on social media over its advertisement for festival Holi with a section of netizens terming the brand as "Hindu phobic".

In a billboard, Swiggy urges its customers to buy Holi essentials on Swiggy Instamart with a picture of a couple of eggs.

With the picture, Swiggy urges people not to throw eggs on each other as a part of Holi celebration rather consume it.

Slamming the brand, one user says, "-@Swiggy did you put up the same billboard during Eid, asking Muslims to refrain from slaughtering goats or during Christmas urging Christians to not cut down trees? Keep your Hinduphobia out of our festivals and let us celebrate Holi the way we want."

Romesh Shah says, "ALL HINDU UNINSTALL SWIGGY APP NOW."

Among many, one Nandini Singh says, "Hey @swiggy, it's not okay to give selective gyan on Hindu festivals. Your Holi reel & Billboard is creating a wrong perception about Holi. You must apologize and take steps to promote cultural inclusivity."
