Mumbai/IBNS: The Mumbai weather, which was already witnessing heavy rains for the last two days, became rough on Wednesday with winds picking up and reaching upto 107 km per hour by the evening.

Due to the degradation in the weather, Mumbai Police issued a warning for the people to not venture out.

Maharashtra Minister and CM Uddhav Thackeray's son Aaditya Thackeray also tweeted to urge people to stay indoors as Mumbai streets braved stormy rains.

Requesting all to remain indoors. Mumbai is lashed with high velocity winds and extremely heavy rain as we all can witness. I request all, especially journalists trying to cover this to remain safe. Stay put wherever you are," Aaditya Thackeray tweeted.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's Office said he has reviewed the situation in Mumbai and adjoining areas.

The officials were put on alert in view of the met office predictions.

According to the Met Office, winds were gushing at a speed 60-70 km per hour over Colaba. The area also received 22.9 cm rainfall.

The Central Railway informed in a tweet that due to heavy rain and waterlogging, train services on harbour line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Vashi and on the main line to Thane have been suspended.

Images shared in social media also provided a glimpse of the wreckage created by the heavy winds with trees falling, cars overturning or roofs getting damaged.
