Heavy rains lash Uttarakhand, 9 killed so far

Dehradun, July 17 (IBNS): At least nine people have died so far as heavy rains lashed Uttarakhand for the second day, media reports said on Sunday.
According to reports, three people were killed in a landslide while six others died when their car fell into a gorge.
 
Pilgrimage to Badrinath was also hit due to incessant rains.
 
As a result of the torrential rains in the state, the water level in the rivers rose above the danger mark. 
 
While river Ganga has been flowing above danger mark in Haridwar, there have been reports that Sharda, Tauns, Ramganga, Nandhaur, Gaula, Kosi, Saryu rivers are flowing near danger mark.
 
The Met Department has predicted very heavy rains over the next two days in the hilly areas of the state.
