Haryana: Police seizes 330 kg ganja from Panipat, one held

Chandigarh Aug 16 (UNI) In another crackdown, Haryana Police has seized 330 kilogram ganja patti from Panipat district and arrested one person in this connection.

Stating this here on Friday, a Police Department spokesman said that the arrested accused was identified as Rajesh, a resident of village Pasina Kalan, Panipat. However, another accused managed to escape from the spot. The absconding accused has been identified. Raids are being conducted for his arrest.


Giving the details, he said that on getting specific inputs about storage of narcotic substance in fields of Narayana village, a CIA team immediately reached the spot. After seeing the police team, one accused sitting outside a ‘kothra’ run away in field. Police nabbed another accused and recovered 330 kg ganja patti packed in 17 bags.


During preliminary interrogation, arrested accused revealed that a case of drug peddling was already registered against him in Chhattisgarh.


A case under the provisions of NDPS Act had been registered against them. The arrested accused was presented before the court, which sent him in four day police remand. Accused is being interrogated to find out the details about suppliers and his other contacts in the district.
