Hardcore KPLT ultra gunned down in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati, July 8 (IBNS) : A hardcore militant belonging to Karbi People Liberation Tigers (KPLT) was gunned down by security forces in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

Following a tip-off, troops of army and police had jointly launched operation in the thick jungles of Nambar reserve forest area under Dilai police station near Bokajan in the hill district.

"The militant killed in fierce gun fight," a top police official said.

The slain militant has not been identified so far and the security forces recovered one AK-56 rifle with magazine, 30 rounds live ammunition, a mobile phone hand set and other war like stores in possession from him.
