Gyanvapi: Supreme Court to hear on securing Shivling area tomorrow

| @indiablooms | Nov 10, 2022, at 06:00 pm

New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court will hear the Gyanvapi matter on the aspect of keeping the "Shivling" area secured at 3 pm on Friday.

The top court bench, headed by Chief Justice DY Chadrachud, set the date for tomorrow keeping in view the fact that its earlier May 17 interim order will expire on Nov 12.

The May 17 interim order had directed the protection of the area inside the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi where the purported Shivling was discovered.

Advocate, Vishnu Shankar Jain mentioned the matter seeking urgent hearing and pleaded extension of the date in view of Nov 12 expiry.

The bench agreed to constitute a bench.

On May 17, the apex court had ordered the Varanasi district magistrate to seal off the wuzu khana area within Gyanvapi mosque where 'Shivling' was purportedly found during a recent survey, but allowed Muslims free access to the mosque for offering namaz.
