Srinagar/UNI: A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorist in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday morning, police said.

They said the gunfight began at Okey village of Kulgam when a joint team of security forces were carrying a cordon and search operation in the area following an input regarding presence of two terrorists.

"The terrorists opened fire on forces triggering a gunfight," a police official said.

The operation is underway.

The gunfight in Kulgam erupted a day after a top local Lashkar-e-Taiba commander and his accomplice were killed in two separate encounters in the outskirts of Srinagar.
