Govt should stop Ram Rahim's activities: SGPC prez Adv Dhami
Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has urged the government to immediately stop Dera Sirsa's head Gurmeet Ram Rahim's activities following his announcement of opening a Dera in Sunam.
Advocate Dhami said that the character of Dera Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim is anti-social and the charges leveled against him are heinous.
Convicted in rape and murder cases, Ram Rahim is also the main accused in sacrilege cases.
Advocate Dhami said that the announcement by this controversial person to open a Dera in Punjab has hurt the Sikh sentiments and claimed that this may spoil the peaceful atmosphere of Punjab.
He demanded that the Punjab government play its role responsibly on this very serious matter and resolve that no branch of Dera Sirsa is established in Punjab.
The SGPC President said that the Sikhs have been hurt as Ram Rahim, who is imprisoned due to his bad character and crimes, is being repeatedly granted payrole.
The opening of his Dera in Mansa is a conspiracy to now announce, he alleged.
He said that the Sikh community will never tolerate this act of his.
The government should not allow the convict of heinous acts to play with the religious sentiments of the people.
Advocate Dhami clarified once again that any activity of Dera Sirsa head Ram Rahim in Punjab will not be accepted.
Advocate Dhami demanded from the Centre and state governments stop Ram Rahim's online speeches while he is out on parole and facing serious charges.
