Give due respect to Advani: Kamal Nath

| | Jun 06, 2014, at 02:58 pm
New Delhi, June 6 (IBNS) Reacting to the removal of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patriarch LK Advani's name plate from his office inside Parliament, Pro-tem Speaker Kamal Nath on Friday said due respect should be given to the veteran politician.

"Due respect must be given to LK Advani and also UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi," Nath said in a statement.

Advani has been moved out of the room of the NDA Working Chairman in the Parliament, media reports said on Thursday.

He had been sitting in the room for several years and the removal has been reported with political implications of an even curtailed role of Advaniunder the Modi regime.

"The room had the name plate of Advani along with former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was the NDA Chairman. However, the name plate of Advani has been removed from outside the room while Vajpayee's name plate still stands there," CNN-IBN reported.

According to reports, the senior party leader is sitting in a makeshift BJP office room in the Parliament.

The BJP won the Lok Sabha polls and formed the government at the Centre.

Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India last week.
