Kolkata, Dec 1 (IBNS): The Kolkata Police on Friday evening arrested two teachers of city's GD Birla school for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl student inside the school premise, officials said.

According to reports, after hour-long interrogation at Jadavpur Police Station, two accused teachers of the school, Avishek Roy and Md. Mafizuddin, were arrested.

A senior official of city police told IBNS that the victim child had identified the accused.

The duo has been charged under several sections of IPC and POSCO act.

"Our investigation is on. Arrested teachers will be produced before a local court at Alipore on Saturday," a police official told IBNS.

The four-year-old student of GD Birla school's lower nursery section has been released from SSKM hospital on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, state education board has formed a three-member-committee to probe the incident.

The committee has been directed to submit its primary report before the state education department by next 24 hours, according to officials.

The incident occurred at the school named GD Birla Centre for Education, located in Ranikuthi, in the southern part of the city.

The parents have alleged that the child returned home crying and with blood stains on her dress; later the mother also found her bleeding from her private parts.

The child was allegedly abused inside a school toilet, media reported.

Reportedly, the child has identified a physical education teacher of the school -- from a photo -- as the one who assaulted her.

According to latest reports, several parents have been agitating in front of the school and the situation is tense.
