Gandhis mourn RK Laxman's demise

New Delhi, Jan 26 (IBNS): Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi have mourned the death of noted cartoonist RK Laxman on Monday.

"Shri Laxman was an intellectual giant who will be missed for decades to come and will serve as an inspiration to many," Congress tweeted quotuing Sonia Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi said Laxman's death will be mourned by the country.

"Through his cartoons he held up a mirror to society-making us laugh at ourselves,while putting concerns of common man at forefront," Congress tweeted quoting Rahul Gandhi.

"One of the most incisive observers and commentators of post independence India, his loss will be mourned by the whole nation," he said.

Laxman, whose creations have been appreciated by people for generations, passed away in Pune on Monday, media reports said.

He was 94.

Laxman was admitted to a hospital for the past couple of days.
