Former Sarpanch shot dead in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 2 (IBNS): Suspected militants shot dead a former sarpanch at his residence in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday, police said.

"Heavily armed militants barged into the house of Fayaz Ahmad in Kandizal area and fired from point blank range on him," said police officer to IBNS.

He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition however he succumbed to his injuries.

The five-year term of the Panchayats ended in July this year.
