Five Army personnel, four of a family killed in Kashmir avalanches

Srinagar, Jan 25 (IBNS) : At least five army personnel and four civilians-all members of a family-were killed in two separate incidents as massive avalanches hit an army camp and a residential house in Kashmir on Wednesday.

Five  army men were killed and  four more went missing after an avalanche hit an army camp in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.

According to an official, five bodies have been recovered so far.

Four members of a family were buried alive when a massive avalanche struck  a residential house at Badugam village of Gurez  in  Northern Kashmir.

During the past 48 hours Gurez valley and Razdan received heavy snowfall measuring four to six feet deep at places.
