Kolkata, Apr 21 (IBNS): Acting on a tip off, a joint team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Directorate of Drugs Control raided a store of a wholesale medicine dealer at Raja Ram Mohan Roy Sarani area under Serampore Police Station limits in Kolkata's neighbouring Hooghly district of West Bengal on Friday and unearthed a fake medicines racket, officials said.

According to reports, two persons, Anil Roy and Sampad Sarkar, were booked in connection with the case and a large number of expired and fake medicines were seized from the godown.

"Based on a complaint, lodged by a medicine manufacturing company, and acting on source inputs, we raided the godown of medicines distributor- S.S. Enterprise- today and busted the racket," a senior ED official told IBNS.

The arrested persons have been handed over to the local police and Hooghly district police have started probe into the matter, a police official said.

However, the duo will be produced at a local court on Saturday.
