EC warns Mulayam over threat to teachers

| | Apr 25, 2014, at 10:08 pm
New Delhi, Apr 25 (IBNS) The Election Commission (EC) on Friday warned Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly threatening contractual teachers to vote for his party.

Earlier, defending Mulayam, the SP on Apr 19 said he did not threaten teachers to vote for the party in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

"Mulayam Singh Yadav was joking. He did not threaten teachers. The Election Commission (EC) must reconsider its decision to slap a notice on him," said SP leader Rajendra Chaudhary.

Pertinently, on Apr 3, Mulayam allegedly threatened contractual government teachers at Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh that they will be sacked if they did not vote for the SP.

The EC on Apr 18 issued a show-cause notice to Mulayam on the same.
