Deoria: SI suspended after trader shot dead

Deoria, Mar 17 (UNI) Gauribazar police station in-charge Bhupendra Singh was suspended for dereliction of duty on Saturday after a trader was shot dead in his shop on Sunday.


Police sources here said Yogesh Jaiswal had complained of threats of extortion on March 11 and a case was registered against Vivek Singh and others under relevant sections but Gauribazar police station incharge ignored the issue and Yogesh was shot dead in his shop on Saturday.

Superintendent of police Kirit Rathor has suspended sub-inspector Bhupendra Singh for dereliction of duty and assigned addition superintendent of police Shishyapal for the investigation of the matter.

SP has announced reward of Rs 10,000 for arrest of main accused Vivek Singh. A special team was formed to nab the culprits, he said.
