Dengue patient attack nurses in Kolkata hospital: Main accused nabbed from Burdwan

Kolkata, Oct 23 (IBNS): Police on Sunday arrested a middle-aged man from Mongalkote in West Bengal's Burdwan district for attacking three nurses in a private hospital in Kolkata, reports said.

According to reports, based on technical and source inputs, the accused man- Subir Saha- was held from Mongalkote.

Earlier on Friday (Oct 21) early morning, dengue patient Subir Saha, who was being treated at All Asia Medical Institute (AAMI) at Garcha First Lane area under Gariahat Police Station limits in Kolkata, went violent and attacked three nurses with an iron stick, used for hanging saline-water bottles.

Sustaining deep head injuries, three nurses- Shipra Mondal, Margaret Mondal and Thokchom Victoria- were admitted in different hospital and one of them, Thokchom Victoria, is still in critical condition, hospital reports said.

However, accused Subir Saha was produced in Alipore court in Kolkata on Sunday and sent to police custody till next Friday (Oct 28).

"His motive behind the attack is not clear so far and we are currently interrogating him," a Kolkata Police official told IBNS.
