New Delhi, Feb 15 (IBNS) The Delhi Police on Monday arrested three men pertaining to a robbery case of Rs 5 lakhs.

In a tweet the Delhi Police wrote: "Crime Branch has solved a sensational robbery case of Rs.5 lakh registered in PS Farsh Bazar. 3 youths arrested."

Sahil Sharma, one of the three arrested, had lodged an FIR on Feb 8 stating he was robbed while the robbers sprinkled chilli powders in his eyes and fled with the money.

On investigating, police found out the Sahil was a heavy gambler and was in debt.

Upon seeing an opportunity he informed his friend Rahul Nagpal, who in turn informed his friend Himanshu and the three shared the money.

The plan was executed accordingly and Rahul and Himanshu tore off Sahil's clothes and sprinkled chilli powder after receiving the money to make it authentic.

The Delhi Police tweeted: "Those arrested include the complainant who made false call and misappropriated the money. Rs. 3,77,900 recovered."

After the arrests of the trio, police have recovered Rs 3,77,900 and another 40,000 was found in Himanshu's bank account which he deposited a day later.

According to police, the accused were produced in court and are in police custody now.
