Delhi: One dead 9 injured after ceiling of a building collapses

New Delhi: A four-year-old girl died and nine others were injured after the roof of a house collapsed at Farash Khana in Central Delhi area, Delhi Police said on Sunday.

A rescue operation is still underway to search for other persons believed to be trapped under debris, police said.

According to Delhi Fire Service, they received a call at around 1929 hours regarding a house collapse at Farash Khana. When the fire officials along with five fire tenders reached the spot, they found a building comprising ground, mezzanine and first floor, where a ceiling collapsed and several people were trapped under its rubbles.

DFS and other teams started the rescue operation and nine persons were dragged out from debris. They were shifted to LNJP hospital where one child has been declared dead in the hospital while nine others have been admitted for further treatment, police said.

The deceased has been identified a four-year-old child while injured have been identified as Amara (45), Nilofar (50), Mohd Imran (40), Sarkar Begum (60), Sukhbir (34), Ankit (28), Ashok (40), Sayaid Jishan (30) and Vipin (30), police added.
