"Delhi Jaipur Highway to be completed in one year now"
New Delhi, June 22 (IBNS): The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has informed that the Delhi Jaipur Highway will be completed in one year from now.
Toll collection as per the concessionary agreement already entered for Delhi Jaipur Highway and cannot be annulled as there could be litigation.
Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Krishan Pal Gujjar responding to such a demand while on a visit to Kot Putli in Rajastan on Saturday evening said that there cannot be legal discontinuity even if the government has changed.
He visited a spot on a fly over on the Highway at Kot putli where there had been some damage leading to huge traffic jam and also diversions.
The minister asserted that responsibility for the quality of works will be fixed based on the enquiry report to be submitted by the Centre for Road Research Institute (CRRI).
The CRRI has been asked to conduct the enquiry and submit report by the 10th of next month.
After hearing vows relating to the highway presented by the local MP Rajyavardhan Rathod , MLAs of the region, local officials and people Gujjar said repairs to the service lanes will be done in the next two days to ease the traffic in the area.
He also ordered all the flyovers already ready to be opened in the next three are four days.
The minister assured the people that the National Highways authority of India (NHAI) will complete all the works relating to the highway within one year even if the contractor does not finish works by that time.
Originally the works were to have been completed by 2011. There were some problems relating to land acquisition also, the Ministry said.
Gujjar said that since his political party is in power in the state and the center, they will now work in tandem to finish the works on the highway.
