Delhi High Court okays Whatsapp privacy policy

New Delhi, Sept 23 (IBNS) : The Delhi High Court has virtually okayed WhatsApp's new privacy policy under which the company will share some user data, including phone numbers of users, with its parent company Facebook, reports said.

The court has, however, directed   the instant messaging firm to not share any user data, which was generated before September 25.

It has also told Whatsapp that data of any user who deletes his or her WhatsApp account before September 25 will have to be deleted from WhatsApp servers.

The high court bench passed this order on the PIL against the recent WhatsApp decision to share user data with parent company Facebook.

Earlier on Wednesday, Whatsapp had said that its new privacy policy does not infringe on the privacy of users and no third party can read the messages due to its end-to-end encryption.
