Delhi court issues summons to IMA president over allegation of converting COVID-19 patients to Christianity

New Delhi/IBNS: A Delhi court has issued summons to Indian Medical Association (IMA) president John Rose Austin Jayalal for allegedly attempting to convert COVID-19 patients to Christianity, media reports said.

Legal Rights Protection Forum, a legal activism group, has filed a complaint against Jayalal after which Dwarka District Court in Delhi issued the summons.

The legal activism group has alleged Jayalal had openly stated that he intended to divide COVID-19 patients into Christian and non-Christian and then try to convert people into Christianity.

The group has sought revocation of Jayalal's medical practitioner license.

The petitioners have requested the government to stop all funds to IMA until Jayalal is removed from the post he holds.

One of the members of IMA, Dr. Jitendra Nagar, has demanded the resignation of Jayalal tweeting, "I am proud of my evidence based medical science that is ‘Allopathy’. I equally respect our great ancestral legacy of ‘Ayurveda’. But my point of concern is IMA chief who has been propagating his vitriolic agenda of conversion! I demand his resignation till he if comes out clean!"
