New Delhi, Dec 30 (IBNS): The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday said it has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that the Principal of DSR Public School at Rath in District Deoria of Uttar Pradesh so brutally thrashed an Upper KG student that he eventually lost his life.

Reportedly, the Principal was upset over his parents being not able to pay an amount of Rs.4500 as fee due to the school, the NHRC said in a statement.

"The Commission has observed that the contents of the press report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim child. Accordingly, it has issued notices to the Principal Secretary, Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Superintendent of Police, Deoria calling for reports within two weeks," it said.

"Reportedly, severely wounded seven-year-old child, Mohammad Aaraj, was rushed to the hospital by the Principal and School Manager, where the doctors declared him dead. Thereafter, the school authorities dumped his body on the highway," read the statement.
