Daman, Nov 6 (IBNS) A group of uniformed men, armed with guns, were arrested by Daman Police on Friday morning on suspicion of terror links but were released later when it was found that they were on a mock drill, according to reports.

The men, all naval officers were out for a mock drill when locals informed the police officials bringing an end to it.

Eish Singhal, Superintendent of Daman police was quoted by NDTV as saying, "We launched a manhunt. We also found a CCTV footage showing these uniformed men."

"We then found five persons, who were not in uniform, standing by a mini-truck. They told us that they had come here to take the delivery of some material which weighs 200 kg," Singhal said.

As suspicion intensified, it intensified the search and at about 2 a.m the men were nabbed.

"They were in full uniform and carrying AK-47 rifles," Singhal said.

After a detailed interactive session in which the captives disclosed their identities and purpose, and the navy approved of these men, they were released.

The Daman Police further cited miscommunication on the Navy's part for their failed mission.
