Dalbir Singh takes over as Honorary Colonel of the Rashtriya Rifles

New Delhi, Sept 30 (IBNS): Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh has taken over as the Honorary Colonel of the Rashtriya Rifles on Tuesday.

He has been closely associated with the Rashtriya Rifles since its inception, when as a Colonel, he raised and commanded 33 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion.

Seeking his continued support, the Director General Rashtriya Rifles reaffirmed Rashtriya Rifle’s commitment towards restoration of peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.  On his part, the Army Chief assured all help to Rashtriya Rifles and paid rich tributes to the Force for its contribution to the nation over years.

Raised in 1990, the Rashtriya Rifles is a special Counter Insurgency Force which has rendered yeoman service in Jammu and Kashmir.

The force has also played a stellar role in development and integration and has woven itself closely into the fabric of Jammu and Kashmir.

More than 1600 officers and Jawans of Rashtriya Rifles have laid down their lives in the line of duty in order to ensure safety, security and integrity of the nation.
