CRPF constable strangles girlfriend in Gujarat; confesses crime at police station where she was posted

Anjar (Gujarat): A 25-year-old woman police officer in Gujarat’s Kutch district was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner, a CRPF constable, following a heated argument on Friday night.

The accused, Dileep Dangchia, walked into the Anjar police station — where the victim was posted — the next morning and confessed to the killing.

The victim, Arunaben Natubhai Jadav, served as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) at the Anjar police station.

According to investigators, the couple got into a verbal altercation at their home in Anjar, during which Arunaben allegedly made disparaging remarks about Dileep’s mother.

“The argument escalated so much that Dilip strangled Arunaben in anger,” said Mukesh Chaudhary, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Anjar division.

The accused is currently posted in Manipur with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He had been in a long-term relationship with the victim, and the two were planning to marry, the police said.

“They had been in contact with each other via Instagram since 2021 and have been living together since then,” the officer added.

Police have launched a formal investigation into the matter.
