Criminals seek extortion from truck carrying goods of Nalanda SP

Patna, Aug 6 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): In a major embarrassment to the Nitish Kumar government, the criminals in Bihar demanded extortion from a truck carrying goods of Nalanda district superintendent of police Sudhiar Kumar Porika.

Porika who was serving as the SP of Araria district was transferred to Nalanda in the same capacity during the recent reshuffle of officials carried out a week back. He is replacing Kumar Ashish who has been sent to BMP-12, Saharsa.

As per reports in the local media, the truck laden with the goods of Porika was on way to Nalanda when the criminals stopped it near Chandi More under Harnaut police station on Saturday morning and sought extortion before allowing it to move forward.

“Criminal showed no respect even when we told them that the laden goods belong to SP…Pisa do aur aahge bado,” the driver quoted the criminals as having told him.

The journey resumed only after the cops sitting atop the truck informed the SP who directed the police station concerned to rush to the spot.

Later, the police arrested one criminal from the spot while raids are on to nab his three other accomplices. The arrested criminal has been identified as Bittu Kumar. Further investigation is on.
