Congress releases list of candidates for Tripura polls

New Delhi/UNI: The Congress on Saturday released the list of 17 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Tripura.

According to a communique issued by Congress general secretary Mukul Wasnik, the party's Central Election Commission (CEC) has selected the candidates.

Prominent among the 17 candidates include its lone MLA Sudip Roy Barman, former MLA Ashish Kumar Saha and state Congress president Birajit Sinha.

Barman will contest from Agartala Assembly seat.

Saha is pitted against BJP's nominee and Chief Minister Manik Saha from the Town Bardowali seat.

Tripura Congress chief will contest from Kailashahar Assembly constituency.

Election to 60 Assembly seats in Tripura will be held in a single phase on February 16.

The counting of votes will take place on March 2.
